Debbie Day Smith, a Florida girl born and raised, always knew she would end up in Auburn, Alabama attending Auburn University like her father; she did not know, however, that she would end up a permanent resident. While studying education at Auburn University, Debbie began to “bleed orange and blue”- a phrase commonly used by Auburn fans and students; she was crowned by Bob Hope after being voted Auburn’s Miss Homecoming, became an official university hostess, better known as a War Eagle Girl, she was an officer for Alpha Gamma Delta, was on the Dean’s list and a Kappa Delta Pi Education Honorary student. Her outgoing personality, love for people, positive and patient attitude contributed to her success as a student and followed her through life as she joined the working force. Answering the call of education, Debbie began teaching middle school math and Special Education and did so for many years; honored as Teacher of the Year twice for her school and district, she is thankful for the opportunity she had to be a part of so many students’ lives. Debbie is married to an Auburn native, Greg, and together the couple raised their two children, Matthew and Emily, as an Auburn loving family. While their children were growing up in the Auburn City School system, Debbie’s love of education continued; she served as the PTA president as well as vice president and was chairman of the City-Wide Fall Festival for several years. As the Smith children also followed their parent’s footsteps as Auburn University students, Debbie began her second career as a real estate agent. For the last ten years, her past experiences in the education field paired with her strong work ethic and ability to effectively communicate with people, has enabled Debbie to assist buyers and sellers in both residential and commercial real estate. She values each of her clients, their needs and their goals and works diligently to ensure that each of their goals is met in a timely manner. Maintaining an open line of communication between all parties in a real estate transaction is how Debbie, along with her positive and personable attitude and high energy, has become the successful Realtor she is today. Debbie believes that real estate is her second calling in life and goes above and beyond to provide exceptional service to all.
