Phenix City

This city is special partially because of its geographic location adjacent to the Chattahoochee River and the Georgia line and lies in both Lee and Russell County. The city is located in the Central Time Zone but uses Eastern Time due to its proximity to Columbus, Georgia just across the river.  The area is home to a myriad of cultural events, including many that are city-sponsored, as well as diverse shopping and dining experiences.  The city has been experiencing positive growth over the last several years and is home to the longest urban whitewater rafting course in the world and two colleges - Troy University-Phenix City and Chattahoochee Valley Community College.
